At My Face My Smile, we are dedicated to helping you achieve a rejuvenated look for a more youthful appearance. We offer various treatments that you will find in a spa in D.C. In fact, we offer chemical peels to enhance the appearance of your skin. With a chemical peel in D.C., you will watch skin imperfections fade away as a new, youthful appearance takes form.
What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel involves the use of a special technique to improve the appearance of your skin on the face, neck or hands. The method we use to exfoliate the skin is one of the least invasive means to promote the generation of new, healthy, youthful-looking skin. By applying a chemical solution, you will benefit from the removal of the damaged outer layers of the skin. You will notice an enhanced texture for smoother skin to help diminish acne scars, age spots, fine lines, and other skin imperfections. Our treatment is safe and effective; however, it is not uncommon to experience a bit of dryness. To ensure you achieve maximum results, there are simple aftercare tips.
How Do I Care for My Skin After a Chemical Peel?
After you have undergone a chemical peel, you will need to use a soap-less cleanser to wash your face gently twice a day for about 30 seconds. In addition to keeping the skin clean, you will need to keep your skin moisturized. When applying the moisturizer, be sure to do so gently. You do not want to rub too hard. Apply a quality moisturizer whenever you feel necessary, even if that is 20 times a day. Apply moisturizer whenever the skin is feeling dry or itchy. If you happen to experience any crusting or scabbing, you will also need to use an antibiotic ointment.
After you have had a chemical peel, it is important not to let your skin dry out. If any dryness occurs, it will cause the new skin underneath to begin pulling. As a result, you may experience red and irritated areas on the skin. To ensure your skin does not become dry or cracked, apply the moisturizer very frequently.
In addition to cleansing and moisturizer, there are certain things you will need to avoid to ensure maximum results. We understand your skin may be a bit itchy, but you do not want to scratch or pick your skin. When showering, avoid placing your face directly into the hot water, which will cause you to peel prematurely and leave blemishes on the skin. You will also want to avoid saunas and Jacuzzis.
You will need to avoid sun exposure for a few days after the peel. Apply sunblock to prevent your skin from drying out and sunburns.
